I have just read a blog post about the claimed link between autism and the MMR programme. It is a fascinating read. Despite the numerous surveys that have been undertaken to prove that there is no statistical basis for the claims, the writer still persists. I guess that no amount of facts or data will ever change her view.
Technically this could be construed as confirmation bias or “the tendency to search for or interpret information in a way that supports one’s preconceptions.”
We are all biased one way or another, but the worst type of bias is the bias blind spot, or the inability to compensate for your own biases. Of course I don’t have that, especially not when I am right.
